Nancy Fechter first began her entrepreneurial journey in 2001 and hasn’t looked back since. She’s taken all her personal and professional experiences and used it to launch a great company. “Having worked in corporate America for years in a sales field that was mostly dominated by males, I really learned a lot from that experience and excelled. When it was time to walk away and become a business owner, I had the tools to succeed. There is learning curve for success and my goal was always to be a very successful woman business owner.”

Formula for Success
“Like every small business the economy plays a huge role in our success. If companies are not expanding, building, upgrading or improving their properties then we are impacted by their growth. We always have to be adaptable to the market trends. Picking up new flooring specialties and additional services help us to produce revenue during the downturns in the economy.”

WBENC certification has played an important role in securing business for this growing establishment. “I feel that we always get a look to be considered on the jobs we bid on because of the certifications we have. As we win projects, it enhances our odds to keep that client. Many times it does not even go out to bid because of the relationships we have developed and we are certified. We belong to many industry organizations, attend most of the functions, and get involved on committees and special projects. With that commitment we usually have access to membership rosters which are our target customers.”

Inspiration & Insights
“Use all of your past experiences as learning tools for your future successes. Those hard experiences and tough times that you survived will make you ready to run/own a successful business. Everyone in your business will be looking to you and you will need to lead with strength and a vision that is embraced by your team. Find a mentor to talk to when you have doubts or issues that need to be resolved. With the many organizations that support woman owned businesses now there are mentors you can reach out to. Take advantage of their wealth of experience to help you through some of the pitfalls that will arise.”
